Stardate 2011.07.19 (Tuesday) - Building a Competition Table

Rohit:        On Tuesday, we first altered the rover design we had made the day before.  We first built a four axle design with one driven tread and one freewheeling tread on each side.  We tried it on the ridge but got an extreme shock.  It performed worse than even the tractor base.

Coach:       We came to the conclusion that the rover needed all wheel-traction.

Rohit:        In the afternoon, we went to Home Depot to pick up wood to make the table and the side-display panels.  Today we went to lunch at Uno’s Chicago Grill, and were joined by Gabriel’s dad who helped us transport the cut sheets in his big SUV.  Gabriel first ordered plain milk but the minute his dad stepped out, he changed his order to one glass of chocolate milk.  That naughty Gabriel!  Don’t you know your dad will read this blog?

Rohit:        After lunch, the kids goofed off a little, while the coach and a team parent tried to figure out how to modify the rover design.  And then the kids started giving their suggestions as well.  It was late when we finally got the rover over the ridge.

Earlier in the day, we wrote to Barcelona Moon Team to thank them for inspiring the team members.  We received a nice reply a few days later.  In the evening, Rohit and his dad went to the Lego Store in Tysons to get replacements or substitutes for some of the parts missing from the kit.
